Hyundai has launched its all-new compact SUV, the Venue, in India with prices starting at Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The range-topping Venue - the 1.0 SX+ AT - comes in at Rs 11.11 lakh. A rival to the hot-selling Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport, the Venue is offered in a choice of six trim levels – E, S, SX, SX Dual Tone, SX+ and SX(O) – and with the choice of three engines. Do note, the prices are introductory and will be increased in the months to come.

The Venue is offered with a choice of two petrol and a diesel engine. The diesel motor in question is the same 1.4-litre unit as on the larger Creta and develops an identical 90hp and 220Nm of torque. The petrols include an 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit and a new 120hp, 1.0-litre turbocharged mill. The 1.2 petrol is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol and diesel unit get a 6-speed manual. The turbo-petrol can also be had with a 7-speed DCT automatic. The Hyundai Venue 1.0 turbo-petrol (in automatic and manual configurations) has a claimed best-in-class mileage figures (18.15kpl and 18.27kpl, respectively) while the 1.2 petrol-manual and 1.4 diesel-manual have fuel-efficiency figures of 17.52kpl and 23.7kpl, respectively.
In terms of equipment, the base Venue is rather sparsely equipped only packing in basics such as power steering, AC, front power windows and a 12V socket. Higher trims add in goodies such as auto climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, diamond cut alloy wheels, wireless charging and the company’s BlueLink connectivity technology.
As we had reported earlier, the Venue will come with 10 exterior colour options and three interior upholstery options.
On the safety front, dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors are standard across the range with the top variant getting six airbags along with ESC (standard on automatic variants).
