New Hyundai Verna prices undercut the likes of the current Honda City petrol; also, the all-new fifth-gen City will carry a relatively higher price tag than the current car’s Rs 9.91-14.31 lakh*. However, the petrol-only Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (Rs 8.32-11.10 lakh*) may continue to be the spacious and value-for-money option in the midsize sedan segment, while the Volkswagen Vento (Rs 8.86-13.29 lakh^) and Skoda Rapid – both with a new 110hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine – are expected to be positioned in the median.
With its extensive list of features, the promise of a sporty option, a rare diesel engine option in this largely petrol-powered segment and cosmetic updates, the Hyundai Verna facelift certainly seems to have the potential to upset the current status quo in the segment.
