In the run up to the Nissan Kicks’ launch on January 22, the brochure of the new Hyundai Creta-rivalling SUV has leaked online. The information revealed includes detailed technical specifications, the features list, the variant break-up and the paint options the Nissan Kicks will be available with.
As we’d reported earlier, the Kicks will be available with two engine options – a 106hp, 1.5-litre petrol and 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both get a manual gearbox (5-speed on the petrol, 6-speed on the diesel) and the SUV will be available in a total of four variants – the base XL, XV, XV Pre and the top-spec XV Pre-Option.
The XL is pretty loaded for a base variant – it gets features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear defogger, rear parking sensors, LED daytime running lights, wheel covers for the 16-inch steel wheels, a height adjustable driver’s seat, adjustable front and rear headrests, power windows, power-adjustable wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a Bluetooth, USB and Aux-enabled audio system with four speakers. The top-spec XV Pre-Option is also quite well-kitted out, with equipment such as four airbags, hill-start assist, rear fog lamps, a 360-degree camera, an optional contrast finish for the roof, LED headlamps, leatherette upholstery, cruise control, push-button start, automatic headlamps and wipers and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, along with steering-mounted controls.
The colour options on the Kicks also differ based on the variant. The base XL gets a total of seven paint options – Pearl White, Blade Silver, Bronze Grey, Amber Orange, Deep Blue Pearl, Night Shade and Fire Red. Only the top-spec XV Pre-Option gets dual-tone finishes as an option – there’s white and orange, white and black, grey and orange and red and black finishes on offer.
Other significant details revealed by the brochure include the Kicks’ ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures – the petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual is rated at 14.23kpl. Interestingly, the diesel motor, mated to a 6-speed manual, returns 20.45kpl in the XL variant, while the higher-spec diesel variants aren’t quite as efficient, with a claimed efficiency figure of 19.39kpl. Another important detail that has come to light is the Kicks’ boot space, which is pegged at 400 litres.
Expected to be priced between Rs 9.4 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), the Nissan Kicks will take on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-cross and the Renault Captur in the increasingly competitive midsize SUV segment. Bookings for the Nissan Kicks had begun mid-December for an amount of Rs 25,000.
