Nissan has been actively testing its upcoming launch for India, the Kicks SUV since a few months. The company had also released teaser for this model recently. We can now confirm that Nissan will unveil the India-spec Kicks on October 18, 2018 with a price announcement to take place sometime in January next year.
The Nissan Kicks for India will mostly look similar to the model sold abroad but that's where the differences end. Underneath, the model for India will sit on a different platform that is largely similar to the one used on the Nissan Terrano SUV. This means the India-bound Kicks is likely to have similar length and wheelbase as the Terrano and this would in turn translate into more legroom and luggage space than the Kicks sold abroad that sits on Nissan's V-platform.
The Kicks will come in a five-seat layout only and will get similar interior bits as the international model. This means we can expect to see a feature laden cabin replete with a 8.0-inch infotainment system and more goodies in the India-bound Kicks.
Under the hood the Kicks for India will come with the 1.5-litre 110hp diesel and a 1.5-litre petrol motor. Gearbox duties will be taken care of by a six-speed manual for the diesel and a five-speed manual or a CVT for the petrol model.
Nissan is likely to price the Kicks in the region of Rs 9.4 lakh going upto Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) when it launches the SUV in India in January next year. The Kicks will be squarely aimed at the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market.
