Jeep is readying the launch of a Black Pack version of its popular Compass SUV and has now updated its website with images of the new variant. This was also disclosed to Business Standard by Kevin Flynn, MD of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India in an interview.
Staying true to its name, the Black Pack gets an black roof, black mirrors, black alloy wheels and an all-black leather interior. While no mechanical changes are expected, it is not yet clear if the Black Pack would be offered as a limited edition variant or as a package on the existing trims. The Black Pack will go on sale in the run-up to the festive season.
Flynn also mentioned the arrival of a higher-spec Compass, confirming the ‘Limited Plus’ name for the new trim. The Limited Plus variant is expected to get additional equipment like a sunroof, a powered driver’s seat and a larger 8.4-inch touch screen infotainment system. The Compass Limited Plus has also been scheduled to arrive in the coming month.
Flynn also confirmed the delay in the arrival of the Compass Trailhawk and spoke of an early 2019 launch. The Trailhawk is the hardcore off-road Compass variant and, in India, will debut an automatic transmission on the diesel version of the SUV. As reported by us earlier, the Trailhawk’s launch has been pushed back, possibly to ensure that the 2.0-litre diesel engine with the 9-speed auto ’box is BS-VI emission norms compliant right from day one.
