The Ranjangaon facility is where FCA and Tata models are manufactured, and also where the powertrains for the above-mentioned companies and other OEMs are produced. The plant currently manufactures the Jeep Compass – FCA’s only locally manufactured model – and the Tata Nexon.
Commenting on the restart of operations, Ravi Gogia, President, FIAPL said, “We have restarted operations with a lean workforce. Our absolute priority is the protection of employees, ensuring we provide them with a work environment that maintains the highest standards of safety, health and hygiene.”
The company has implemented the necessary safety measures, including mandatory temperature checks, use of personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfection of the entire facility, and social distancing norms. Additionally, workers are required to submit daily health declarations to the company prior to arriving for work. The company says that it has recruited a 50-member task force of employee volunteers to help ensure these safety measures are followed properly.
FIAPL has also said that an ambulance equipped with a ventilator will also be present at the facility.
Tata Motors will continue to manufacture the Nexon SUV at this facility, while Jeep India is expected to also roll out a 7-seat SUV based on the Compass in the near future.Read more about that here.
