Jeep is all set to unveil a mildly updated Renegade SUV on June 6. The company had previously confirmed to our sister publication, Autocar UK, that there would eventually be a turbocharged, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol 48V mild-hybrid version of every car in its line-up, including the upgraded Renegade.

Exterior revisions will likely include revised LED daytime running lights and other such light tweaks, while the car’s rugged, retro-Jeep styling will certainly carry forward.

Inside, a larger infotainment screen will replace the current 6.5-inch unit, absorbing the buttons and controls previously surrounding it. The new unit is still housed in the shaped surround, so it takes up no more space than the previous unit.

Under the hood, the India-bound Renegade is likely to come with a 140hp, 2.0-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with full-time four-wheel drive as optional and two-wheel drive as standard. Key rivals to the Renegade include the Hyundai Creta, Renault’s Captur and the upcoming Nissan Kicks.

Expect competitive pricing for the Renegade as Jeep is already in talks with suppliers to increase local content ahead of a launch.

Apart from the Renegade, Jeep is also readying two more SUV launches for India, read more about it here.
