Kia Motors is on track as far as progress with its India plan goes. The Korean carmaker is gearing up for the launch of its first offering in the country, the SP Concept-based SUV, and has now given us an idea of the pricing for its new SUV.

Speaking to Autocar India, Manohar Bhat, Head Sales & Marketing, Kia Motors India, confirmed that the SP Concept-based SUV will be priced in the range of “Rs 10-16 lakh”, specifying those prices will be ex-showroom. While it will be positioned as a premium, aspirational product, with its aggressive pricing, the Kia SUV will take the fight to the Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Nissan Kicks, in addition to lower-priced models like the Maruti Suzuki S-cross and Renault Duster.

Spied recently in near-production form, the SP Concept-based SUV will be available with both petrol and diesel engines right from launch, and with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

Inside, the Kia SUV is expected to sport premium materials and a high-end touchscreen infotainment system. As is the case with its cars globally, expect Kia to load its new SUV with every feature you’d expect to see on a model in this segment.

Trial production of the SP Concept-based SUV is set to begin in January 2019, with launch slated for the middle of the year.
