Land Rover India has launched a new entry-level Discovery, expanding the premium SUV’s range. Priced from Rs 75.18 lakh, the new version comes powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine (making 240hp and 500Nm of peak torque). As before, the Discovery can also be had with six-cylinder 340hp, 3.0-litre petrol and the 258hp, 3.0-litre diesel.
The new 2.0 diesel engine version – which is available in same S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury trims that the other engine versions come in – is cheaper than the larger-hearted 3.0 V6 diesel by about Rs 13.6 lakh. However, the new 2.0 diesel is just about Rs 1.76 lakh less than the base Discovery 3.0 petrol, which costs Rs 76.94 lakh.
In terms of features, the Discovery 2.0 and 3.0s share the same level of equipment. As such, the top-spec versions of the seven-seat premium luxury SUV are available with electrically reclining seats, split-folding rear seats, powered third row seats, a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control and more.
The Land Rover Discovery rivals the Mercedes GLE (Rs 67.15-78.18 lakh), Audi Q7 (Rs 73.82-81.10 lakh) and BMW X5 (Rs 72.90-82.40 lakh) in the Indian market.
