Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will launch the EQS 580 4Matic – the non AMG version of its EQS – on September 30. The carmaker launched the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ on August 24.
Unlike its AMG counterpart, the EQS 580 will be brought to India via the CKD route, making it the carmaker’s first electric car to be assembled here. The local assembly will begin on the same day as the launch.

- Likely to cost Rs 50 lakh lower than the AMG version
Mercedes Benz EQS 580: range, battery and powertrain
One of the highlights of the EQS 580 4Matic is its maximum range of up to 770km according to the WLTP cycle. With that figure, it will easily be the EV with the highest range figure in India, surpassing the current title holder – the BMW i4 – which has a WLTP-certified range of up to 590km.
Like the EQS 53, the EQS 580 also gets a 107.8kWh battery pack and two motors, but the combined power output is less than the AMG at 523hp and 865Nm of torque.
Mercedes Benz EQS 580: design and interior
Expectedly, the EQS 580 4Matic will not be as aggressively styled as the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53. The changes will be to the front blanked-out ‘grille’, which will now house several miniature illuminated three-pointed stars, unlike the horizontal slats of the AMG version. The front and rear bumpers will also be slightly different, and the India-spec EQS 580 4Matic will sport 20-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the EQS 580 is expected to get the 56-inch ‘Hyperscreen’, and Mercedes-Benz is likely to offer multiple interior colour and trim options for the India-spec model.
Mercedes Benz EQS 580: expected price and rivals
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 is likely to be priced around Rs 50 lakh lower than its AMG counterpart, which, at Rs 2.45 crore, is the most expensive EV in India. The EQS 580 4Matic will have no direct rivals at launch, but price-wise, it will take on the lower variants of the Porsche Taycan and the Audi e-tron GT.
