According to the carmaker, the Nissan Magnite has received a strong response in Nepal, with 760 bookings within the first 30 days of its launch in February 2021.
“Following a successful global launch, the new Nissan Magnite has been very well received by the Indian consumers. Built on the philosophy of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’, the Magnite will explore more export markets after the overwhelming customer response it has received in the Nepal market. We are confident that the game-changer SUV will strengthen exports as part of Nissan NEXT transformation plan for our sustainable growth,” says Sinan Ozkok, president, Nissan Motor India.
Nissan India has, earlier this year, introduced third shift in its 4,80,000 units per annum manufacturing plant at Oragadam, Chennai, along with over 1,000 new hires, to ramp up production for both, the Indian and export markets.
Nissan Magnite: engine and gearbox
Under the hood, the Nissan Magnite is available with two petrol engine options. The first is a 72hp, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine, and the second is a 100hp, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit.
Both engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The turbo-petrol is available also offered with the choice of a CVT automatic gearbox (which produces 152Nm of torque – 8Nm less than the manual).
Nissan Magnite rivals
The Magnite is positioned in the extremely competitive compact SUV segment where it rivals the likes of the Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
