SCOOP!
Mahindra is understood to be working on a facelift of the Scorpio, as test mules of the SUV were recently spotted in Karnataka.
This will be the first update for the Scorpio since the launch of the second-gen model in 2014. The test mule spied wore camouflage across the nose, front fenders and the tailgate which indicate a revised front fascia and tweaks to the rear.
The biggest talking point for the SUV, though, will be the engine update. The 2.2-litre mHawk unit is expected to develop 140hp (up by 20hp) in the facelifted SUV. The torque figure is likely to be revised as well. The set of five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearboxes from the current SUV is expected to be carried forward.
The Scorpio SUV has been a popular offering from Mahindra, alongside the more premium XUV500 which is also expected to receive a facelift – its second since launch – shortly.
