Mahindra has launched the S9 variant of its Scorpio SUV. Priced at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the S9 is more affordable than the S11 variant and doesn’t miss out on certain key features.
The Scorpio S9 remains mechanically unchanged and features a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel mill that produces 140hp and 320Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a four-wheel drive system offered only on the top-spec S11 trim.
Inside, the Scorpio S9 features a lot of kit from the S11 variant. There is automatic climate control, dual airbags with ABS, cornering projector headlamps, a 5.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and audio and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel on offer with the S9.
The Mahindra Scorpio competes against the Tata Hexa in our market. Mahindra is also due to launch its flagship Alturas SUV later this month which will be followed by the launch of the S201 compact SUV in 2019.
