Maruti Suzuki has enhanced its warranty on all 17 cars and SUVs it sells in India, effective for vehicles delivered from July 9 onwards. From the Alto K10 to the Invicto, every Maruti car will now come with a 3-year/1 lakh kilometre warranty as standard. This is a significant improvement over the previously offered coverage of 2 years/40,000km, and it also makes Maruti’s standard warranty equal to what Toyota offers.

  1. Maruti introduces 6-year/1.6 lakh km extended warranty
  2. 4-year/1.2 lakh km, 5-year/1.4 lakh km extended warranty packs improved

Besides the longer standard warranty, Maruti has introduced the Solitaire warranty package, which covers the car or SUV for 6 years or 1.6 lakh km, whichever is earlier. There are also Platinum (4-year/1.2 lakh km) and Royal Platinum (5-year/1.4 lakh km) packages available. The company said it has also expanded the extended warranty coverage of 11 high-value parts without confirming what these components are.

In comparison, Tata Motors offers a 3-year/1 lakh km standard warranty, and it has packages that extend up to 5 years. Hyundai, too, has a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard, with unlimited kilometres on models priced higher than the Venue. The Korean company also offers extended warranty packages up to 7 years.
