With the government easing restrictions on economic activities in lockdown 4.0, Maruti Suzuki has been able to restart operations of over 1,350 showrooms and 300 True Value outlets across India. This has been done in compliance with the guidelines set by the government.
The reopening of the showrooms has allowed the carmaker to deliver over 5,000 cars to its customers across India. These include models from Maruti’s Arena showrooms as well as its premium Nexa dealerships. The former offers the Alto, Celerio, Celerio X, Wagon R, Swift, S-Presso, Dzire, Vitara Brezza, Eeco and Ertiga, while the Nexa offers the Baleno, Ciaz, Ignis and XL6.
In order to increase safety and prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Maruti Suzuki has also implemented new standard operating procedures (SOP) at its facilities. These SOPs include the sanitisation of the facilities and cars, as well as maintaining social distancing.
The carmaker is also preparing to launch the S-cross with a 1.5-litre petrol engine (in place of the older 1.3-litre diesel engine), once the nationwide lockdown ends. S-cross buyers will also, for the first time in the model’s history, have the option of choosing between an automatic gearbox and a manual, with the former getting mild-hybrid tech to aid fuel efficiency.
