The company has said it will inspect the Eeco for the missing standard symbol with any rectification action, if required, undertaken free of cost. Owners of the suspected vehicles will be contacted by their local Maruti Suzuki dealers.

Additionally, owners can also visit the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section on the company website and fill in their vehicle chassis number (MA3 followed by 14-digit alpha-numeric number) to check if their vehicle needs any attention.

Maruti Eeco: A brief overview

One of Maruti’s long serving models, the Eeco over the years has become a favourite among fleet operators and courier services for its ability to seat up to seven, cargo-van configuration and low running costs.

Maruti Suzuki upgraded the van to meet the new safety regulations in October last year before rolling out the BS6-compliant model, earlier this year. Unlike the rest of Maruti’s line-up that use the company’s new K Series petrol engines, the Eeco makes use of the older G-Series 1.2-litre unit owing to the car’s longitudinal rear-wheel drive layout. The engine develops 73hp and 98Nm of torque and comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Buyers also get the option of a factory fitted CNG kit on the van.
