Maruti Suzuki has announced that it sold 1,06,443 CNG-powered cars in financial year 2019-2020. The figure represents highest sales for Maruti CNG vehicles in a fiscal.
Which Maruti Suzuki models are available with CNG?
Currently, four Maruti Suzuki models, namely the Alto, Wagon R, Ertiga and Eeco, are on offer to private buyers with factory-fit CNG kits. These bi-fuel models get BS6-compliant petrol engines that are tuned and calibrated to run on CNG. Maruti will expand its CNG range with the launch of the S-Presso CNG that comes soon.
What is Mission Green Million?
Maruti Suzuki began selling CNG-powered vehicles in 2010 and cars powered by Smart-Hybrid technology in 2015. Cumulatively, these ‘green vehicles’ as Maruti calls them have sold over a million units. Under Mission Green Million, Maruti Suzuki has set itself an aim to sell the next million green vehicles in a shorter time span.
