Maruti Suzuki Subscribe, a car leasing and subscription programme launched earlier this year, is now available for prospective customers in Delhi-NCR. With its latest move, the company has expanded the scope of the service to four regions in total – Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad. The scheme essentially provides a customer access to a new vehicle for a stipulated monthly fee, without the need to own the vehicle.
- Maruti Suzuki Subscribe gives access to a vehicle for a fixed monthly fee
- No down-payment required, but a security deposit has to be made
- Service to expand to 40-60 cities in the next two to three years
Maruti Suzuki Subscribe leasing details
Maruti Suzuki Subscribe provides individual customers an alternative to outright buying a car. It allows them to use a vehicle of their choice for a fixed tenure ranging from 12 to 48 months, in lieu of a monthly fee that includes the cost of the vehicle, road tax, insurance, maintenance costs as well as access to roadside assistance. Though no down-payment has to be made while subscribing to the vehicle, a security deposit has to be paid.
After the stipulated tenure is over, customers can return the vehicle, extend the service, upgrade to a new model or even buy the car at market price.
The programme aims to enhance the convenience of having access to a set of wheels, without the hassles of ownership.
Maruti Suzuki Subscribe cities covered
Maruti had launched the scheme in July this year as a pilot project in Gurugram and Bengaluru, in association with Orix. The service has now been extended to other territories in NCR including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
The automaker had also tied up with Myles last month for offering the Maruti Suzuki Subscribe service in Pune and Hyderabad. The company says that it is working towards introducing the scheme in 40-60 cities in the next two to three years.
Maruti Suzuki Subscribe vehicles available
Under the scheme, customers can subscribe to a new vehicle and even select the variant and colour of their choice. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga are available for the programme through the company’s Arena network, while the Baleno, Ciaz and XL6 can be leased through the Nexa retail chain.
Interestingly, customers availing the service in Pune and Hyderabad will be given a black-plate registration, while those opting for the programme in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru will have a choice between black-plate as well as white-plate registrations.
Alternative ownership models for vehicles have started gaining traction in recent times, with an increasing number of automakers joining the fray. Currently, similar solutions are also provided by Toyota, Volkswagen, Skoda, Hyundai and Jeep in our market.
