Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth-gen Swift in India last month with an evolutionary design, more features, additional safety kit and a more frugal engine. The Swift is a popular choice for potential hatchback buyers in India, and as such generates a lot of interest, and many questions. If you are in the market for a new Swift, read on to find the answers you are looking for.
How much does the 2024 Swift cost?
The Maruti Swift is priced from Rs 6.49 lakh onwards for the entry-level LXI MT variant. The range-topping ZXI+ AMT dual tone costs Rs 9.65 lakh. The Swift is available in five variants, namely LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi and ZXi+. You can check out the variant-wise price of the Swift.
How does the new Swift drive?
Maruti has equipped the Swift with an all-new Z12E three-cylinder petrol engine, which is one cylinder, 8hp and 1Nm torque down when compared to the four-cylinder K12 unit previously on offer. The new engine might not feel as rev-happy or strong as the outgoing unit, but drivability has improved. The fantastic 5-speed manual transmission, precise steering and sharpened driving manners make the Swift a delight to drive. Check out our detailed review of the Maruti Swift.
How fuel efficient is the 2024 Swift?
The Maruti Swift has an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency mileage of 24.80kpl for the petrol-MT combination, and 25.75kpl for petrol-AMT one. This makes it significantly more fuel-efficient than not only the outgoing model, but also all of its rivals.
When is the Swift CNG coming?
Like all other Maruti Suzuki Arena cars, the Swift will also gain a CNG option soon. This will make it the first CNG-based car to use the new Z Series engine. The powertrain will have slightly lower power and torque outputs while in CNG mode, and will likely only be available with the manual transmission. A launch is expected in the coming months. However, Maruti is yet to confirm the news.
When is the new Swift Dzire launching?
The Dzire (previously known as Swift Dzire) will see a generational update based on the new Swift, with a launch expected around this festive season. It will be equipped with the same Z Series petrol engine as the Swift, while a CNG option will be added later.
