McLaren Artura powertrain, performance

Under the hood, the McLaren Artura PHEV gets a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 585hp coupled with a 95hp, 225Nm rear-mounted electric motor, and combined, they produce 680hp and 720Nm of torque. Delivering power to the rear wheels is an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

McLaren claims the Artura PHEV can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.0 seconds and go on to a top speed of 330kph. A 7.4kWh battery gives the supercar an electric-only range of up to 31km and a top speed of 130kph. The battery can be charged from 0-80 percent in 2.5 hours and can also harness power from the engine, depending on which drive mode from E-Mode, Comfort, Sport and Track is selected.

McLaren Artura platform and dimensions

The Artura is the first model from the brand to have McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) that the firm claims has been designed to be optimised for hybrid applications. The Artura gets a carbon-fibre tub with aluminium crash beams as well as an aluminium rear subframe to support the engine and suspension. With this new platform, the Artura has a kerb weight of 1,498kg and a dry weight of 1,395kg.

McLaren’s PHEV measures 4,539mm in length, 2,080mm in width and 1,193mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,640mm. The Artura houses a 66-litre fuel tank and has a storage capacity of 160 litres in the front trunk.

McLaren Artura design, interior, features

Like all McLarens, the Artura’s headlamp housing mimics the brand’s logo, while an additional lighting element is placed under the headlamps. It has a quintessential mid-engine sportscar design with a gaping air intake right behind the doors, and it sports 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 20-inch alloy wheels at the back.

At the rear, the Artura looks similar to the McLaren GT with thin tail-lamps but has its exhaust tips mounted above the number plate housing. The McLaren and Artura logos are placed between the two exhaust tips.

Inside, the Artura features a digital instrument cluster, and an 8.0-inch vertically mounted touchscreen running on McLaren Infotainment System II, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Artura also gets dual-zone climate control and two USB ports, as well as ADAS tech.
