McLaren has announced its India entry plans. The British supercar and sportscar maker has already delivered a few units in the country, which have been brought in as private imports. Now, the company will be opening its first dealership in India in Mumbai this October, which will provide customers with sales, aftersales and servicing on its complete range of models. According to our sources, prices for McLaren's supercar range will likely be announced once the dealership has been inaugurated.

  • India will be McLaren’s 41st global market
  • Will introduce the new Artura hybrid supercar
  • Coupe, spider versions of the 765LT also part of the range

This, however, isn’t the first time McLaren has tried to enter our market. There were reports of the brand’s entry way back in 2012, when the automaker had just launched the MP4-12C convertible, and again a few years later. In fact, in 2019 we reported how McLaren was evaluating its entry into India, which has always been a small but quickly growing market.

McLaren range in India: GT

The entry point into the McLaren line-up will be the GT which was globally introduced in 2019. As a grand tourer, the GT is aimed at a clientele that wants a softer, more comfortable, mid-engined supercar as compared to the more track-focused, performance-oriented cars in McLaren’s line-up. Powered by a 620hp, 630Nm, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that’s mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox, the GT can achieve a top speed of 326kph, with 0-100kph being dealt with in just 3.2 seconds. Its rivals in India will include the likes of the Ferrari Roma, Aston Martin DB11 and the Bentley Continental GT.

McLaren range in India: 765LT and 720S

First revealed in 2020, the McLaren 765LT is the flagship in the brand’s Super Series and is the lighter, sharper and faster version of the 720S. McLaren has confirmed that it will offer the 765LT and the 720S in India, in both coupe and spider form.

Both the 765LT and the 720S are powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine that’s mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. However, it produces 765hp and 800Nm in the former and 720hp and 770Nm in the latter. We have previously driven and reviewed the coupe and spider versions of the 720S in India, which you can read by clicking here and here. The 765LT and the 720S will rival the Lamborghini Huracan and the Ferrari F8 Tributo in India.

McLaren range in India: Artura

The final car in McLaren’s range for India will be the Artura that was launched in international markets in 2021. Unlike the others, the Artura is a plug-in hybrid supercar that's powered by a 585hp, 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, V6 engine mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 95hp electric motor. With a total output of 680hp, the Artura can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 3 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 330kph. Being the brand’s first plug-in hybrid supercar, the Artura has a range of up to 31Km with a top speed of 130kph in electric-only mode. It will rival Ferrari's recently launched 296 GTB hybrid supercar in India.
