The Concept EQ is one of the many concepts that grabbed eyeballs at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. Developed for Mercedes' newly created electric sub-brand EQ, the concept gives an insight into future battery-driven SUVs from the German carmaker.
Unveiled first at the 2016 Paris motor show, the concept has been on display at various motor shows thereafter. It sports a contemporary design and a lot of technologically advanced elements such as cameras instead of exterior mirrors and an absence of conventional door handles. Mercedes describes the concept's styling as an 'electro-look'.
The vehicle derives power from two electric motors – one mounted in the front axle and another housed in the rear. Both motors deliver a combined output of 300kW with a range of up to 500km. Additionally, it gets a host of driver assistance features.
On the inside, the Concept EQ has a 24-inch wide touchscreen that displays individualised information such as speed, range and navigation. Interestingly, it also gets car-to-X-technology, an advanced safety feature that relies on radio-based exchange of information between vehicles as well as with traffic infrastructure and enables features like blind-spot detection, pedestrian monitoring, information about vehicles ahead.
