Mercedes-Benz India has introduced a new feature to its Mercedes me connect connected car app, which allows owners to search and navigate to an available parking spot. The new feature will be built-in to the cars’ MBUX infotainment head unit and will be accessible via the smartphone application as well.
For now, the feature that allows one to navigate to an available parking lot will show spots in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune. However, Mercedes-Benz intends to add 45 cities to the list in the coming months.
This new feature is expected to be quite useful, considering a recent study by TomTom Traffic Index showed that Mumbai is the second-most congested city in the world, with Bengaluru and New Delhi standing at sixth and eighth, respectively.
The R&D arm of Mercedes-Benz in India, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), has collaborated with Get My Parking, the IoT-driven platform under the German brand’s Startup Autobahn India programme, to embed this new feature into all Mercedes-Benz cars equipped with the Mercedes me connect app. This means every one of the 15 launches this year will be equipped with this feature, from the A-class Limousine (coming on March 25) to the 730hp Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
