Just a month after the last round of India-spec MG Cloud spy shots surfaced online, new images have emerged, providing details on the upcoming EV’s interior. MG Motor India has also released a new teaser of the Cloud before revealing its prices during this year’s festive season.
- Cloud for India to get two screens, steering-mounted controls, and more
- To get a minimalist dashboard with horizontal creases over AC vents
- New Cloud teaser shows LED light bar and headlights
MG Cloud interior, features
While most of the dashboard of the model spied is covered, a few details can be gleaned. It seems like the India-spec Cloud EV will have the same fully digital instrument cluster and large, floating infotainment touchscreen as seen in the model for Indonesia, where it sells under the Wuling brand name. Other visible details include the two-spoke steering with controls for the infotainment system and the horizontal slats, which span the length of the minimalist dashboard and cover all four AC vents.
The teaser by MG Motor India also hints that the crossover will come with a sunroof.
As the Cloud is a born EV, it has interior packaging advantages typical of the breed, which should bode well for the space on offer with this 5-seater. The model aboard also gets fully reclinable front seats (to enable a ‘sofa mode’), circular door-mounted speakers, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite. It remains to be seen if these features will make it to the India-spec Cloud.
MG Cloud exterior, design
As per the teaser, the Cloud will sport slim all-LED headlights and have an LED light bar on the nose above the grille area, connecting the headlight units. The MG logo appears illuminated.
Previous spy shots of the Cloud EV have shown that its overall silhouette is a bit of a cross between an MPV and a hatchback. However, MG Motor India calls it a CUV: crossover utility vehicle. Like the interior, the exterior also follows a minimalist design with flush door handles, clean surfaces, and full-width LED light bars at the rear and the front. While the Cloud has a large glasshouse and extended quarter glass sections, the front and rear windscreens are sharply raked.
MG Cloud battery, range
While the battery specs for the India model are still under wraps, in international markets, the Cloud gets two options: a 37.9kWh with 360km of range and a 50.6kWh unit that offers up to 460km. In both cases, the battery powers a 134hp front axle-mounted electric motor.
MG Cloud price, rivals
As we’ve reported earlier, MG Motor India is targeting a sub-Rs 20 lakh price tag for the Cloud EV when it arrives this festive season. This means it’ll be positioned between the Comet and the ZS EV and compete with compact electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. For MG to achieve the aggressive price point, it will be essential to make extensive localisation efforts in areas such as battery packs.
