MG Motor India today announced that it has appointed Gaurav Gupta as its Chief Commercial Officer - Customer Experience & Marketing (CEM). Autocar India had exclusively reported the move on August 1, 2018. The carmaker also announced the appointment of three other automobile industry executives to lead the sales, service and customer care verticals.
Gupta joins the company from Bridgestone Tire Indonesia where he was the President Director. At MG, he will oversee the marketing, sales, customer delight and dealer development functions. A General Motors veteran, Gupta has worked with the company for over 20 years across markets such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and China. At GM India, he served as the Director, Utility Vehicles & Strategic Planning, from 2010 to 2011, and before that as Director - Marketing & Product Planning from 2007 to 2010. In fact, he was the president director at GM Indonesia for two years from August 2015.

Gaurav brings rich industry experience in customer-facing areas, which are critically important for success in India. With the aggressive product line-up backed up with a core CEM team in place, it makes us confident that his experience and leadership will add immense value to the MG brand in the coming years,” said Rajeev Chaba, president, and managing director, MG Motor India said in a company statement.
MG Motor India also said that it has firmed up the top management team with other appointments such as that of Rakesh Sidana, who was earlier an AVP at Honda Cars India, as national sales head, and ex-Toyota executive Rajesh Mehrotra as the national service head. The company has also brought on board former Hyundai executive Dimple Mehta to head Customer Care & Customer Delight.
With these senior-level appointments, MG Motor India aims to build a strong foundation for its future operations, with its first product, an SUV that's scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2019.
