Honda Cars India has just given one of its bestselling models a small update. The 2019 Honda WR-V has been launched at a starting price of Rs 8.15 lakh, and it now packs in more features as standard. A new trim level has also been made available in the diesel version at Rs 9.95 lakh.
The new V trim level for the Honda WR-V diesel sits between the base S and top-spec VX variants, and packs in most of the features available on the VX, including the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a reverse camera, cruise control and power-folding ORVMs, among others. The only features missing from the new trim are the electric sunroof and the leather-wrapped steering wheel, and as a result, the Honda WR-V V is priced at Rs 9.95 lakh, which is Rs 70,000 more than the S but Rs 40,000 cheaper than the VX.
Additions to the base S trim level include 16-inch alloy wheels with a gunmetal finish, automatic climate control with the touch control panel, front fog lamps, one-touch auto up-down operation for the driver’s side window, and speed-sensing auto door lock. The only addition of note to the top-spec VX trim is a leather-wrapped steering wheel. What’s also standard across the WR-V range now are rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder for the driver and front passenger, and a speed alert system. All these inclusions mean prices of the base S version have gone up by a notable Rs 20,000-30,000, while the VX trims only cost Rs 5,000-8,000 more than before.
Since its launch in 2017, Honda has sold close to 88,000 units of the WR-V in India, with the sales split being skewed in favour of the diesel version.
