Images of the Mini Aceman have surfaced online before its scheduled unveiling at the Beijing motor show on April 24. These leaked images show a model that resembles Mini’s larger Countryman model. The Aceman EV crossover will be positioned between the smaller three-door Cooper and the Countryman. The BMW-owned brand is readying a major brand overhaul for its entire lineup, and that includes the Mini Cooper 3-door hatchback, which will have both electric and petrol powertrains.

Mini Cooper Aceman EV: interior, exterior highlights

On the outside, the Aceman retains most of the design cues from the Aceman concept showcased in 2022. The leaked images also confirm the availability of a range-topping John Cooper Works (JCW) variant, featuring larger alloys, low profile tyres and racing-inspired decals. Compared to the Cooper hatch, the Aceman is 192mm longer, 23mm wider and 130mm taller.

On the inside, the Aceman will feature the Mini’s new round touchscreen, claimed to be the first circular OLED touch interface in a production car. Notably, traditional toggle switches and steering wheel buttons for media functions, drive modes, and cruise control will continue.

Mini Cooper Aceman EV: performance, battery

Like the new electric Cooper SE hatchback, the Aceman will also utilise a stretched version of Mini’s Spotlight Architecture. Similar to the Cooper, two battery packs – 40kWh and 54kWh – will be available. These battery packs will be used to power a single motor mounted on the front axle, producing either 183hp or 218hp. The range of the upcoming EV has not been disclosed but from the specified battery sizes, it could be assumed that the Aceman will have up to 400km range.

There’s no word on the Aceman coming to India yet, but the Cooper SE is on sale here for Rs 53.50 lakh, ex-showroom, India.
