Mitsubishi has revealed the Xpander Limited to celebrate crossing the 1,00,000-unit sales mark in the Indonesian market. The limited edition model is based on the top-spec Xpander Ultimate variant and gets a host of additional accessories fitted as standard. Mitsubishi will be restricting the number of examples manufactured to just 1,000 units, and the MPV will only be in the Indonesian market.
The exterior sports a few unique elements such as the chrome door handle protectors, ‘Limited’ badges on the rear, and the Xpander name on the hood above the grille, and on the fuel lid. Only a Quartz pearl white exterior finish will be available, though the model will also feature sporty black, red and silver decals that run along the lower portion on both sides of the car, as well as the rear view mirrors. The wheels have a diamond-cut finish and also sport a small red insert.
The cabin retains the standard Xpander’s layout but it is now equipped with sporty black seat covers, scuff plates with Xpander branding and a plaque indicating its serial number in its limited production run. It also carries over the sporty black, silver and red decals from the exterior to the central console. The special edition MPV also receives all the bells and whistles the top-end Ultimate variant gets such as a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, steering-mounted audio controls, a reverse camera, among others.
Mechanically, the car features no changes as it carries over the 1.5-litre, MIVEC four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 105hp and 141Nm of torque from the standard Xpander. It has not yet been announced which gearbox it will be available with, but the standard Xpander can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Safety kit includes two airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and active stability control.
Mitsubishi has plans for an Xpander India launch, though the exact date has not yet been provided by the brand. It is expected to make its way to our market only after the arrival of the Eclipse Cross SUV, which won't be here until 2020.
