An image of the all-new BMW X4 M, without any camouflage, has leaked online. The range-topping performance version of the already sporty-looking SUV-coupe is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming months.
As expected of the more focused variant, the X4 M features obvious performance-oriented cosmetic changes on the outside. When compared to the standard model, the leaked image of the X4 M shows that it has blacked out tail-lamps, a slightly tweaked rear bumper, four exhaust pipes, a silver-finished boot spoiler and larger alloy wheels finished in black.
Expect the front of the X4 M to sport a differently-designed front bumper, blacked out elements on the grille and headlamps and other styling changes that usually come with M Performance badged models.
Under the bonnet of the X4 M, BMW is expected offer the same 3.0-litre in-line, six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine found in the M3 and M4, the latest versions of which have launched in India. In the sports sedan and coupe, the motor makes 450hp and 550Nm of peak torque and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. However, the X4 M is expected to get an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all-four wheels via BMW M’s xDrive system.
The German brand is expected to bring the standard X4 to India during the first half of 2019. It will be brought in as a CKD and assembled at BMW’s Chennai plant. The X3 (already on sale in India) and X4 are underpinned by the same CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform and are expected to share the same 252hp, 2.0-litre petrol and 268hp, 3.0-litre diesel engines.
