Kia has launched the all-new Carnival in India. While it comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox like its predecessor, the MPV is now more frugal. The ARAI-rated fuel efficiency for the new Carnival is 14.85kpl.
- New Carnival 0.95kpl more efficient than its predecessor
- Gets a 72-litre fuel tank
Compared to the previous Carnival, which was powered by a diesel unit that made use of a cast iron block, the new MPV gets a 2.2-litre engine with an aluminum block. The new engine produces 7hp less but offers 1Nm more torque (193hp and 441Nm) than its predecessor. Additionally, it is 0.95kpl more frugal, with the outgoing model rated at 13.9 kpl. With its 72-litre fuel tank, the new Carnival has a theoretical maximum range of 1,069km on a full tank of diesel.
Its price tag also means that, for now, the Carnival has no direct rivals in India. It sits between the Toyota Innova Hycross (Rs 19.77 lakh-30.98 lakh) and the Toyota Vellfire (Rs 1.22 crore-1.32 crore).
