We previously reported that Lexus will showcase the fifth-gen RX SUV and the updated LC500h coupe at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. We can now confirm that the company will also announce prices for both models at the motor show.
- LC500h to continue with V6 petrol-hybrid engine
- New RX SUV expected with strong hybrid powertrain
This will be Lexus' first outing at the Auto Expo and it will be one of the only two luxury carmakers at the event this year, with the other being Volvo. Lexus is also likely to use this opportunity to showcase some of its EVs to gauge customer interest, although there are no launch plans of an electric vehicle any time soon.
Fifth-gen Lexus RX
The fifth-generation Lexus RX made its global debut in June this year and adopts a completely new design language over the fourth-gen model. It has a more upright stance, with a completely new spindle grille, sharper LED headlamps and tail-lamps, and a coupe-like rear quarter. The interior is also completely new, with far lesser switches and a large, centrally-mounted touchscreen.
The new RX is expected to be offered in 350h guise in India that comes with a 246hp, 2.5-litre, four-cylinder strong hybrid powertrain. Globally, the RX is also available with a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, although these are not expected to make it to India.
Updated LC500h coupe
The updated LC500h coupe gets mild cosmetic updates such as a slightly redone front grille and updates to interior trim and upholstery. It will continue to be offered with a 359hp, 3.5-litre V6 hybrid powertrain as before. The LC500 is also powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, which is also the same powertrain propelling the convertible model. Both these, however, will not be part of the India line-up.
Lexus LX delivery details
Lexus India has also begun deliveries of its flagship LX SUV, which is based on the latest-gen Land Cruiser 300. The company has confirmed to us that the LX is sold out for 2022 and that a fresh batch, with limited units, is expected to arrive next year.
