Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of its second-gen Ertiga, which is slated to take place on November 21, 2018 as reported by us a few days ago. The company has already begun production of the new MPV. A handful of Maruti dealers have begun accepting bookings, with deliveries being promised by end-November.
The India-spec Ertiga looks almost identical to the one that was unveiled in Indonesia earlier this year. For India, Maruti will offer two engine options on the MPV, just like on the outgoing Ertiga. A new, 1.5-litre petrol engine, good for 105hp, replaces the 1.4-litre motor. The diesel variant of the new Ertiga retains the popular 90hp, 1.3-litre engine.
The new Ertiga gets fresh styling with an angular nose, slimmer headlamps and wide, wraparound tail lights with LED elements. The model is now based on Maruti’s lightweight Heartect platform and is expected to be lighter but stiffer than the outgoing model.
On the inside, the new Ertiga shares many parts from current-gen Marutis. The India-spec model will come with Maruti's Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system and could also get cooled cupholders in the higher variant. Dual front airbags and parking sensors are likely to be standard across the range while the top-spec variants are expected to have a reverse camera as well.
Expect Maruti to price the Ertiga competitively when it hits showrooms sometime next month.
