Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the new AMG C 63 in India on November 12. The AMG C 63 drops the V8 for a new plug-in hybrid setup that combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine along with a rear-mounted electric motor. For the new generation, the non-S C63 base model is dropped, which means that it will be available in the AMG C63 S E Performance spec only.

Mercedes-AMG C 63: powertrain, specs
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine on its own puts out 475hp, while the electric motor further produces 203hp. The total output stands at 680hp. To minimise lag, the turbocharger incorporates an electric motor that runs off the 400V electrical system and helps the turbine spool up faster – technology derived from Mercedes’ Formula 1 car. It gets a 9-speed multi-clutch automatic gearbox with all-wheel drive.
The C63 also gets four-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 2.5deg in the opposite direction to the fronts (up to 100kph), or up to 0.7deg in the same direction at higher speed. Thanks to the 6.1kWh battery pack, the C 63 can travel on electric power for only 13km.
Mercedes-AMG C 63: exterior, interior design
On the outside, the AMG C 63 gets 76mm-wider front wheel arches over the regular C-Class, with 19-inch or optional 20-inch wheels. It comes with the iconic AMG grille with vertical slats and active shutters that open or close depending on the engine’s cooling demands. With redesigned bumpers, the C 63 is 50mm longer than the C-Class. The interior layout is the same as the standard C-Class, with the large touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. It gets an all-black theme with an AMG-specific steering wheel over the standard sedan.
Mercedes-AMG C 63: expected price, rivals
The AMG C 63 will sit above the C 43 in Mercedes’ line-up, with the latter currently priced at Rs 98.25 lakh. As per our estimates, the C 63 could carry a price tag of about Rs 1.3 crore-1.4 crore (ex-showroom). It will rival the Audi RS 5 here.
