In January 2022, we had exclusively reported that Mercedes-Benz will be launching the new C-Class in India sometime in May. Now, we can confirm that Mercedes-Benz will announce prices for the new C-Class on May 10, 2022. The carmaker has also opened bookings for the new C-Class at Rs 50,000 for existing Mercedes-Benz customers for now.

New Mercedes-Benz C-Class: fresh styling on the outside
The next-gen W206 C-Class resembles the S-Class, mainly because of the shorter overhangs, a more angular front end and similar shape for the lights.
The external proportions of the C-Class remain familiar, but it has received design updates all round, such as the prominent ‘power bulges’ on the hood as well as the revised glasshouse that has been moved slightly backwards to give the impression of a cab-rearwards design. Creases and character lines have been kept to a minimum in an effort to highlight the shoulder line, according to Mercedes.
The wheelbase of the new sedan has been increased by 25mm, to 2,856mm, and the overall length is up by 65mm. The added length will, of course, open up more room in the cabin.
New Mercedes-Benz C-Class: completely overhauled interior
The influence of the latest S-Class is visible on the new C-Class, mainly in the shift from a horizontal, ‘free-flowing’ infotainment display to a portrait-oriented, tablet-style touchscreen. It uses Mercedes’ second-generation MBUX infotainment system.
The screen measures 10.25-inch as standard. It is angled slightly towards the driver for ease of use and visibility on the move. A high-definition LCD digital instrument display, which appears to float above the dashboard, can be specified in 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch sizes. The dashbaord otherwise has a very clean and minimalist look.
The new C-Class gets jet engine-inspired air con vents, and the gear shifter and rotary dial have been removed. Most infotainment functions are now operated via touch-sensitive pads on the steering wheel. We will have more details on the equipment list closer to launch.
New Mercedes-Benz C-Class: engines for India
The new C-Class in India will be sold as a C200 petrol, a C300d diesel and a C220d diesel. We expect the new C-Class C200 to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol good for 197hp, the C300d diesel with a 245hp 2.0-litre engine and the C220d with a 2.0-litre 194hp engine, that will join a little later. All the powertrains are expected to be paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
New Mercedes-Benz C-Class: launch and rivals
Notably, the new C-Class estate has already been spied in India, but it’s the sedan that will make it to our shores. On its arrival, the new C-Class will take on the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Volvo S60 and Jaguar XE.
