Suzuki will take the wraps off its highly anticipated second-generation Ertiga MPV at the upcoming Indonesian motor show in Jakarta on April 19, 2018.
Following its global unveil, the new MPV will go on sale in the local Indonesian market first and will make it to our shores around August this year. The Ertiga is almost as popular in Indonesia as it is in India, though, in comparison, the MPV market in the former is more competitive. Suzuki, in fact, sells the current-gen Ertiga in Indonesia in two versions at different price points, with the more up-market Ertiga Dreza variant being unique for the Indonesian market.
Coming back to the next-gen model, Suzuki will initially launch the new Ertiga in Indonesia with a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, which, according to local dealers, will place the 1.4-litre petrol. There is no news on the diesel powerplant on the new MPV as of now.
The new Ertiga has been spotted testing in India and also more recently in Indonesia. The overall silhouette confirms the model to be wider and a bit longer than the outgoing car, which could mean more interior room, especially for the third-row passengers.
The test-mule’s wrap-around tail-lamps look very similar to the ones on the Ciaz sedan, except that these extend further onto the tailgate. This arrangement makes the MPV look wider than it is.
Expect more details on the new Ertiga to trickle in the coming days.
