Suzuki has been bringing out special editions of the second-gen Ertiga MPV quite frequently, and the company has just revealed another: the Suzuki Ertiga Sport. The sporty-looking MPV is not to be confused with the Suzuki Ertiga GT or the Ertiga Black Edition – the latter gets no external changes but gets an all-black cabin, while the former wears a relatively more sombre-looking body kit.
The Ertiga Sport’s exteriors sport an even more radical body kit, with silver highlights around the grille, fog lamps and chin spoiler, along with dual-tone alloy wheels, a rear bumper that’s been shaped like a diffuser and a largish rear spoiler.
The interiors are dual-tone, with a faux-wood and grey plastic finish on the dashboard and door panels. The Ertiga Sport has the same features as the standard top-spec Ertiga in the Indonesian market, and comes with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, which can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
While Maruti Suzuki has not revealed plans to bring any of the aforementioned special edition models to India, it has just recently discontinued the base diesel Ertiga variant in the market in anticipation of replacing the FCA sourced 90hp, 1.3-litre engine with an in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel unit. There’s also the launch of a more premium, six-seater Ertiga to look forward to in the coming months.
