New Tata Zest sedan launched at Rs 4.64 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the Zest compact sedan in India starting at Rs 4.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol variant and Rs 5.64 lakh for the diesel. The Zest is Tata’s attempt to win back the segment it kickstarted with the Indigo CS. The new Zest is available in four trims on the petrol car and five on the diesel.

 

Start of a brand new generation of Tata cars, the Zest retains the carmaker's design language but is a lot more stylish and upmarket. Top-spec models even get daytime-running-lights.

 

What was generally considered Tata’s shortcoming, the interiors, are now brand new and a massive improvement over previous products. There’s a dual-tone dashboard and plenty of equipment. The infotainment system even adds a touchscreen on the top variant.

 

Mechanically, the Tata Zest is powered by the new Revotron 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 88.7bhp and 14.27kgm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It comes with three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. The Zest also gets the familiar 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced Quadrajet diesel engine that comes in two states of tune - 74bhp (only on base trim) and 89bhp. Importantly, on top of the manual gearbox, it comes with an automated manual transmission (AMT) option.

 

With the new Zest sedan, Tata Motors has also introduced a class-best warranty scheme of three years or one lakh kilometres, an annual maintenance contract of three years or 45,000km and a free 24X7 roadside assistance service for three years.
