Volvo India has begun taking bookings for the second-gen XC90 SUV. The booking amount is Rs 5 lakh which is non-refundable. Volvo dealers are expecting deliveries to begin by August this year. The carmaker will showcase the new SUV in India for the first time next week and will also conduct a special customer preview. The new Volvo XC90 will be displayed in Volvo showrooms across India by July 2015.
The all-new XC90 SUV will be sold in two trims in the Indian market, the feature-loaded Momentum and the higher-end Inscription. The top-spec Inscription variant will hit showrooms first.
The Momentum trim will offer features such as keyless entry and go, panoramic sunroof, electrically operated tail-gate, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function, power-folding third row backrests, rain sensing wipers, LED headlamps, Park Assist, Hill Descent Control and a 12.3-inch screen in place of the earlier instrument cluster.
The top-spec Inscription trim will get added features such as a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins music system, air suspension, heads-up display, heated and ventilated front seats and a Nappa leather interior with wood trim.
The new XC90 will only be available with a 225bhp, 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel for both the Momentum and Inscription trims. A petrol engine likely to make its way under the hood by early 2016, and the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain is expected to follow soon.
Apart from the new XC90, Volvo is also readying India launches of the V40 hatchback and a petrol-powered S60 T6 variant.
