A first set of brochure scans reveal the expected styling direction of the upcoming Toyota Rush SUV, which is slated to be officially unveiled later this month. For those who are unaware, Toyota Rush is a popular seven-seater SUV sold primarily in markets like Indonesia and neighbouring ASEAN regions. It also has a badge-engineered cousin called Daihatsu Terios.
With the second-gen Toyota Rush SUV, Toyota seems to be using similar styling cues seen on modern and more premium SUVs like the Fortuner. Up front, the Rush gets the Innova-like large grille with four chrome slats. However, the headlights, replete with LED daytime running lights, resemble the previous-gen Honda CR-V (the one that’s still on sale in India). The front bumper looks chunky and has dedicated rectangular slots for round fog lamp units. The image also shows stylish and large wing mirrors.
Moving on to the sides, the glasshouse looks longer and somewhat rounded at the back, giving it a crossover-ish look. The new SUV is expected to have decent ground clearance like its predecessor. As mentioned earlier, the Toyota Rush will also share its underpinnings with the Daihatsu Terios.
Details on engine and other mechanical fronts are still awaited. Expect Toyota to unveil the new SUV later this month. As far as its India launch goes, there is no official word. However, as per the recent development, Toyota is likely to focus on small vehicles via its alliance with Suzuki. More on that here.
