Nissan India has released the first set of details of the upcoming Magnite Kuro Edition. The company has commenced bookings for Rs 11,000 from today and will announce prices in October. This Edition is essentially a blacked-out version of the Magnite, and according to Nissan, Kuro means black in Japanese.
- Magnite 1.0 NA petrol to get AMT gearbox option
- Kuro Edition available with both engine options
- Price announcement in October
Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition also gets 1.0 petrol with AMT
The Magnite Kuro Edition gets an all-black interior and exterior theme, and is available in top-spec XV trims. The chrome surrounds around the grille, the silver skid plates on the bumpers, the roof rails, alloy wheels and the headlamp have been blacked out. On the inside, there's new Kuro Edition-themed mats, along with an all-black finish on the dashboard, seats and door pads.
The Kuro Edition gets the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual, but more importantly, as per our sources, it will also get a new AMT gearbox that wasn't available earlier. We expect Nissan to introduce the 1.0 petrol-AMT powertrain on the standard Magnite too. Interestingly, sister SUV Renault Kiger has offered the AMT with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine since its launch. The more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine equipped Magnite variants also get the Kuro Edition treatment.
Nissan Magnite Kuro edition features
Our sources also mention that there could be a few feature additions. However, barring a sunroof, the Magnite already has a decent features list to begin with, including an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger and even a 360-degree camera.
Nissan Magnite rivals
The Magnite is positioned at the lower end of the compact SUV segment, which means it directly rivals the Renault Kiger, and also takes on higher variants of sub-compact SUVs like the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3. The Magnite's top-spec variants also rival lower-end trims of compact SUVs like the recently updated Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and the Kia Sonet.
