The Nissan Magnite SUV is the Japanese brand's next big launch for India. The company recently rolled out the first units of the Magnite compact SUV from its Oragadam plant in India. We've got fresh details on the Magnite's engine, gearbox and variants.

Nissan Magnite engine and gearbox options
As reported by us earlier, the Nissan Magnite SUV will come with not one but two petrol engine options. The Magnite range in India will start with a naturally aspirated B4D dual-VVT 1.0-liter petrol engine that will deliver 72hp and will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Higher variants of the Magnite will come with a HRA0 turbo-charged 1.0-liter petrol engine that will be available with either a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine will churn out around 95hp of power. There will be no diesel engine on offer.
Nissan Magnite variant and equipment details
Nissan India has announced that the Magnite will be sold in four variants. All variants of the Magnite SUV (except the entry-level XE) can be ordered with either of the two engine and gearbox options. Here's a brief look at the equipment each variant would offer.
Nissan Magnite XE
The entry-level variant of the Magnite compact SUV, will come with 16-inch steel wheels, dual-tone interior, front and rear faux skid plates, roof-rails, all four power windows, a 3.5-inch LCD display and dual tone interior.
Nissan Magnite XL
The mid variant of the Magnite compact SUV will get a six-speaker audio system, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control and electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors.
Nissan Magnite XV (High)
The Magnite XV (High) gets 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED daytime running lamps and foglamps, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a segment first wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch TFT display for instrument cluster, voice recognition technology, a reverse camera and push-button start.
Nissan Magnite XV (Premium)
The top-spec Magnite XV (Premium) gets LED bi-projector headlamps, cruise control a 360-degree around view camera, tire pressure-monitor and all-black interior. There is no mention of a sunroof.
Nissan Magnite technology pack
Nissan will also offer an optional Technology Package on the Magnite SUV's XV and XV Premium variants. The package includes additional equipment like wireless charging, air purifier, ambient mood lighting, puddle lamps, and JBL speakers.

Nissan Magnite expected pricing and launch date
Fresh details from sources reveal that the Magnite will most likely see a price announcement by late November and the cars will be out on display by early next December at all Nissan outlets in the country. Key rivals to the Magnite include the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Toyota Urban Cruiser. Additionally, the upcoming Renault Kiger SUV will rival the Nissan Magnite as well and will also share its platform and powertrain.
The Magnite is the most important model for India currently and the company is planning an aggressive price strategy for it. Prices for the Magnite are expected to start around Rs 5.3 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom) for the XE variant while the range will max out at around Rs 7.5 lakh for the fully-loaded Magnite XV premium with technology package and turbo-petrol CVT option.
