Just two weeks after its official unveil, the Nissan Terra will launch in China on April 12. The announcement from Zhengzhou Nissan also carries more details about the seven-seat SUV.

The ladder-frame architecture of the Terra is shared with the Navara pick-up and, incidentally, the Mercedes X-class. It is 4,882mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,835mm tall, with a 2,850mm long wheelbase. Expect the Terra to be decently capable off the road thanks to a reported 220mm of ground clearance, and approach and departure angles of 33 and 26 degrees, respectively.

For the Chinese market, the Terra will be powered by an 184hp, 2.4-litre, naturally aspirated petrol motor mated to a six-speed transmission. An optional seven-speed automatic is also on offer, as is a 4WD system.

The new images released show that the Terra features LED headlamps and DRLs, and 18-inch alloy wheels on the outside. Inside the cabin, the SUV sports wood trim on the central console, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a touchscreen infotainment system, an engine start-stop button and cruise control. The images also show 60:40 split-folding rear seats and a five-seat configuration, which may mean both, five- and seven-seat versions will be on sale in the Chinese market.

The Nissan Terra is likely to head to right-hand-drive markets in the near future. It has potential for the Indian market, where the seven-seat SUV will rival the likes of the the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Isuzu MU-X.
