Nissan has showcased a special edition of the Terra SUV, called the ‘S’, at the 2018 Philippine Motor Show. It appears to focus on style, with all the modifications to the standard car being done in the Philippines. The Nissan Terra SUV is a new offering from the brand to take on key rivals like the Fortuner and Endeavour (Everest in some markets).

On the outside, The Nissan Terra S showcases the more aggressive and rugged side of the standard Nissan Terra SUV that it is based on. As opposed to the regular Terra models, the S has a closed-off air intake, fog-lamp housing on the lower part of the front fascia and darkened headlamps. The bonnet has been given a dual-tone colour scheme to accentuate the aggressive design language. Moving on to the sides, the SUV now has some extra body cladding that adds to the overall width of the car. The fenders have been flared noticeably, and the footboards have been blacked out. The Terra S sits on rather uniquely designed 20-inch alloy wheels that enhance its premium look. At the rear of the vehicle, a characteristic black spoiler has been installed and the bumper has been redesigned to look like a diffuser. The upper half of the tailgate has a dual-tone paintjob to match the bonnet. The body has been given a metallic paint finish.

On the inside, the dashboard of the Terra S is the same as the regular model. It is, however, finished in a dual-tone black and white scheme. The seats are now wrapped in more leather, finished with a high-quality quilted pattern, making the interiors look very premium. Some of the trim pieces also appear to be finished in an Alcantara leather-like material. The most standout feature in the cabin is the intricately stitched ‘Terra S’ branding on the front headrests.

Nissan has not officially revealed the engine specifications and performance figures of the Terra S yet. However, it is likely that it will come with the same engine as the regular model, which is a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel unit that produces 190hp at 3,600rpm and 450Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. It is expected to have a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and it appears that the part-time four-wheel-drive system is absent; this means that the SUV could be rear-wheel drive only.

There is no news of the Nissan Terra making it to our shores anytime soon; however, we think the SUV could be a strong contender in the every-growing SUV segment in India.
