Porsche will take the wraps off the facelifted Cayenne SUV on April 18, 2023 at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. While the final exterior design of the new Cayenne has not yet been revealed, Porsche has released the first set of pictures of the SUV's interiors. The new Porsche Cayenne features a totally reinvented cockpit inspired by the Taycan, with a heightened emphasis on driver engagement.

  1. Gets a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster
  2. 10.9-inch passenger screen invisble to the driver
  3. SUV has been tested for around 2,00,000km in urban areas

The Porsche Cayenne facelift will go on sale globally in the coming months, and it gets a raft of mechanical upgrades, a subtle new exterior design treatment and – as has now been revealed in official images – a comprehensively redesigned cabin.

New Porsche Cayenne interiors

Aimed at providing an "even more intensive driving experience" while facilitating interaction – both with the car and the front seat passenger – the Cayenne's new dashboard is dominated by a full-width digital panel comprising three screens: a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen and an optional touchscreen in front of the passenger.

This new 10.9-inch interface, which is invisible to the driver to avoid distraction, allows the passenger to "take the strain off the driver" by setting the sat-nav and adjusting the media settings.

The 'free-standing' digital instrument display (with up to seven different views, including a five-dial set-up reminiscent of the 911), new-generation steering wheel, dash-mounted drive selector and redesigned centre console take their lead from the Porsche Taycan – and it all forms part of Porsche's ploy to achieve "the right balance between digital and analogue elements".

The instrument cluster gets seven different views, including a 911-style 5-dial set-up.

The Cayenne's technological capability has also been significantly enhanced, gaining a new cooled wireless smartphone charging pad, Siri voice control, four USB-C fast charging ports and a new video streaming service that shows films on the central display when stationary, and on the passenger screen when moving.

New Porsche Cayenne testing details

The new Cayenne has already been put through its paces in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America, covering over 40 lakh test kilometres in prototype form. Ahead of its appearance in Shanghai, the SUV took on extreme conditions in the desert, snow and mountainous terrains, with Porsche engineers testing the model’s new semi-active chassis. Tests also included around 200,000km spent in urban traffic, on motorways and on country roads.

Porsche said it has been testing the Cayenne as if it had been “developed from scratch”, with the goal of “achieving an even wider range between the typical Porsche on-road performance, long-distance comfort and off-road capability.”

New Porsche Cayenne India launch plan

Porsche currently sells the pre-facelift Cayenne in India, and we expect the carmaker to introduce the heavily updated model in our market a few months after its global debut.
