The Renault Arkana SUV Coupe has been officially unveiled in production-ready guise. The model was first shown as the Arkana SUV-coupe concept at the Moscow International motor show. The model will be offered in the Russian market by the end of the year.

As is plain to see, the Arkana carries forward a lot of the design elements from the concept car. Details such as the unique C-shaped LED headlights and the grille – that prominently places the Renault lozenge badge – are all there. However, the defining element of the Arkana is its sloping roofline that merges with the boot to give the SUV a high-riding notchback look. The SUV-coupe stance also gives the Arkana distinction within Renault’s own SUV line-up. The production-ready car rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Arkana features a clean dashboard design. The dash is home to the infotainment system’s 8.0-inch touchscreen unit with Renault’s Easy Link interface. The system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include single-zone automatic climate control, heated seats and eight ambient/ mood lighting options. The Arkana also gets Renault’s Multi-Sense technology that provides three drive modes – Eco, Sport and My Sense. The latter allows the driver to customise their driving settings, from ambient colours to steering and throttle response.

Powering the Renault Arkana is a new 1.3-litre TCe tubo-petrol engine that produces 150hp and 250Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a CVT X-Tronic automatic gearbox and there’s also the option of all-wheel drive. Renault has not revealed any performance figures yet.

Given the tepid reception to the crossover-like Captur in India, it is unlikely the Arkana will be under consideration for launch in our market. Renault India is working on an update for the Duster SUV and will unveil the Triber sub-for metre seven-seater on 19 June, 2019.
