The second-generation Range Rover Evoque was first unveiled by Land Rover in late 2018. Now, finally, the carmaker has confirmed that the new Evoque will be launched in India on January 30, 2020, over a year after its international debut.

For the all-new Evoque, Land Rover has heavily reworked the styling, taking inspiration from the larger Velar. This has resulted in a front end with a new headlight design, updated grille and a new front bumper. On the sides, not much has changed, as the new Evoque has retained its overall silhouette, with the tapering roofline and steeply rising beltline; although, it has adopted the Velar’s pop-out door handles. The rear, too, has received changes and gets a new bumper and tail-lights. Overall, the new Evoque looks sleeker than the model it replaces.

Land Rover has also made use of a new platform for this second-generation Evoque that has been developed keeping electrification in mind. However, the India-spec model will come with JLR’s Ingenium line of BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. The diesel on offer will be a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit that’s good for 180hp and 430Nm of torque, while the petrol will be a 249hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol motor. The power will be sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

On the inside, the all-new Evoque is much more luxurious than the outgoing model, as it features Land Rover’s new interior layout. This means that, at least in the top-spec model, features like a digital instrument cluster and a new dual-touchscreen layout – one to control the infotainment system and the other to control in-car features like climate control, seat adjust, and more – will be available.

Though Land Rover has yet to be announced the pricing, we expect the all-new Evoque to start around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Audi Q5 and the Volvo XC60.
