British luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce has launched the Dawn convertible in India at a price of Rs 6.25 crore (ex-showroom). The Dawn is Rolls-Royce’s latest convertible and shares its underpinnings with the Wraith coupé though the manufacturer says that 80 percent of the car’s bodywork has been redesigned.
Powering the massive 2,560kg vehicle is the same 6.6-litre 570hp V12 engine as the Wraith, paired to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Dawn also gets a revised suspension and a stiffened body to provide the four-seater convertible with the company’s famed ‘magic carpet’ ride.
The soft-top roof can be operated at speeds of up to 50kph with the roof retracting in 21 seconds. Rolls- Royce says that the cabin with the roof up is just as quiet as that of the coupé, which will make it the quietest convertible on sale.
The Dawn is Rolls-Royce’s second convertible in India with the manufacturer also offering the more expensive Phantom Drophead Coupé.
