Hyundai India has announced that its upcoming three-row SUV will be called Hyundai Alcazar at launch. This new SUV will be based on the Hyundai Creta. While the three-row SUV has been spied testing in various forms and multiple times, today, we bring you the first set of spy shots of the Alcazar three-row SUV's cabin.

  • Hyundai Alcazar will be sold in six and seven seat layouts.
  • Will share almost all mechanical bits with the five-seat Creta.
  • Price announcement expected by June 2021.

New Hyundai Alcazar: What's it like on the inside?

While the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar has been spied testing multiple times earlier, we bring you the first set of spy shots of the three-row SUV’s cabin. The Alcazar will most likely be offered with both six and seven seat configurations and the spy shot we have show the six-seater with dual-tone captain seats, and a rather unique floor mounted central armrest with cupholders and likely a storage console below. There is also a wireless charging pad. While unique, with this setup access to the third row will only be possible after folding the second row seats which will feature a tumble-down feature.

The second row seats also have ISOFIX mounts and the images also reveal the Alcazar’s third row of seats that appear wide enough for two adults, legroom though seems to be a bit limited. Also, while the Alcazar has a slightly larger rear overhang, it remains to be seen how big the cargo area is with the third row up.

We managed to snap first ever-spy shots of the new Hyundai Alcazar's third row of seats, and while they are wide enough for two adults, legroom for the third-row occupants seems to be a bit on the limited side. Also, while the Hyundai Alcazar has a slightly long rear overhang, it remains to be seen how big the cargo area is with the third row up.

Third-row seems to be large enough for two adults, though legroom may be an issue.

New Hyundai Alcazar: What else is new?

As far as the exterior goes, the Alcazar will have a tweaked version of the Creta’s front bumper and grille, different alloy wheel design and a few other cosmetic differences. On the inside, design elements of the Alcazar will be more or less similar to the Creta. Expect Hyundai to also carry over the Creta’s petrol and diesel engine options.

New Hyundai Alcazar : powertrain, technology and safety tech

The Hyundai Creta's petrol and diesel engine options are likely to be carried over to this new SUV too. This means Hyundai could offer a wide range of engine and gearbox options that will give customers more choice than its direct rivals – the MG Hector Plus and the Tata Safari

Additionally, sources tell us that the Hyundai Alcazar three-row SUV could also come with ADAS technology, which is known as Hyundai SmartSense overseas. While details are scarce, we expect the SUV to come with Hyundai SmartSense features like forward collision assist, which includes automatic emergency braking tech, blind spot collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, automatic emergency braking while reversing, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, features like smart cruise control, highway driving assist and lane departure warning can also be expected on the three-row Hyundai Alcazar SUV.

New Hyundai Alcazar: launch timeline and rivals

The Hyundai Alcazar will take on the likes of the recently updated MG Hector Plus and the newly launched Tata Safari. Additionally, it will also see competition from the likes of the outgoing Mahindra XUV500 and its upcoming next-gen version that will hit the showrooms later this year.

Sources tell us that the Hyundai Alcazar could also come with ADAS technology, which the company call Hyundai SmartSense which will feature elements like smart cruise control, highway driving assist and lane departure warning. Hyundai is likely to announce prices for the Alcazar in June.
