Honda Cars India has announced that it plans to carry out preventive part replacement of the power window switch of 42,672 units of the second-generation Honda City, manufactured in 2007 and 2008.

The company says the replacement is due to a likely malfunction of the power window switch in case water or any other liquid enters the driver-side window.

While no such problem has been reported from any customer in the Indian market, Honda Cars India says it is carrying out the part update as a preventive measure as part of a global exercise by Honda Motor Company to ensure stringent quality standards for its products.

The replacement would be carried out free of cost at company dealerships across the country, and the owners will be contacted individually in a phased manner.

The carmaker says the third-generation Honda City currently sold in India is not affected and does not require any part replacement.

Honda Cars India has two manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and at Tapukara, Alwar district, Rajasthan. Its product range includes the Brio, Amaze, City, Accord and CR-V which are produced and assembled at the Greater Noida facility. It has a sales and distribution network of 152 facilities in 98 cities across the country.
