Skoda recently confirmed that it will bring in its compact SUV in March 2025, and the SUV has now been spotted testing. Skoda will enter the ever-growing sub-4-metre SUV segment, which currently includes as many as six direct rivals from five different manufacturers. The compact SUV has now been spotted testing for the first time ever, and it reveales a few noteworthy details.

  1. To rival Brezza, Nexon, Venue and Sonet
  2. Will get the 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine

The test mule features wraparound LED tail-lights, a spoiler-mounted brake light, along with non-functional roof rails. Other styling bits will include a split-headlight setup with slim LED Daytime Running Lamps sitting atop the main headlamp housing, as well as the signature Skoda grille.

Skoda compact SUV technical details

The Skoda compact SUV will be based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Kushaq, and we already know that its wheelbase will measure 2,566mm – 85mm shorter than the Kushaq’s. It will also have smaller wheels than the Kushaq's 16- and 17-inch alloys.

Skoda has confirmed that the compact SUV will be powered solely by its 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 115hp and 178Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter.

Skoda compact SUV rivals and expected price

It would rival the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet and Maruti Brezza. The Koreans also get a diesel option, while the Brezza (and soon the Nexon) can be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

In order to drive sales, the Skoda compact SUV will have to be priced competitively; we expect it to be around Rs 9 lakh-14 lakh (ex-showroom), which will put it on par with a majority of its rivals. Skoda has confirmed that the SUV will go on sale in March 2025, and will also likely be exported to markets like South America, South-East Asia and Africa, among others.
